The following is from an interview with an art student about how
I developed this work of art:
Ahh! The "Girl on a Cliff" is one of my
all time favorites!
The concept for the image just came to me one day.
Like most of my ideas, they are visions that just come to me! This was back in
the early 1970's. I guess I was having a particularly good day that day?
I
made a pencil sketch of it and then turned that into a pen and ink drawing. I
had the pen and ink image transferred to acetate and made a silk screen for printing
on paper and T-shirts which are still in production today. You can see the final
result of the original at:
At
the time it was not what I had in mind for the ultimate reality of the concept
but, I never did find the time to paint the idea the way I really wanted it to
be. Once I taught myself how to use computer graphics programs like Photoshop,
Bryce 3D and Poser. I was able to recreate the "Girl on a Cliff" with much better
results than I had ever thought possible. This is the first 3D computer generated
remake of her:
And, just recently I remade her again much larger, 59" x 62" at 300 DPI and I
think that she is finally the way I had originally envisioned her to be! The message
I was trying to convey was one of peaceful tranquility and sheer beauty with a
touch of daring excitement. The final piece:
The girls body was created with Corel's Poser. The sky, sunset,
terrain, mountains, cliff, tree trunk, river and rainbow were created with Corel's
Bryce 3D software. The hair, grass and tree foliage was painted with Adobe Photoshop.
