Julia Jules Robinson April 2007 Artist of the Month portrait artist

It gives me great pleasure to introduce April's Artist of the Month for 2007. Local Rehoboth Beach, Delaware artist Julia "Jules" Robinson has a natural talent for photo realistic portrait artwork in the classical style. Her vision are extraordinary natural ability and basically, fantastic artwork is deserving of an exhibit in the Infinitee Designs Artist of the month section.

Julia began her art training with local (Rehoboth Beach, Delaware) artist and teacher, Colleen Lowe, working with all types of media and subjects. She recently spent a summer at the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, where she studied portrait drawing and painting in the classical technique of the great masters. Pictured left, Julia is working on a cast drawing during a class in Italy. Cast drawing was emphasized because it provides experience with shading and value. Live model drawing was also an integral part her training; an example of which is her work entitled “Standing Nude” She has been accepted into Brown University where she plans to further develop her creative skills as a studio art major.
Julia’s works focus on capturing the emotion and personality of the subject, as well as the effects of light and shadow. Commissioned portrait drawings are available in graphite or charcoal in a variety of sizes. They can be drawn from live sittings or from a photograph.
